With all the hype surrounding Google’s mobile operating system, LG decided it was time to get a piece of the pie and have come up with LG GW620, the company’s first Android handset. An average smartphone to say the least, the GW620 slider tries to get the eye with its features that include a 3-inch HVGA resistive touchscreen display or a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash.
Running Android 1.5 Cupcake and meant as a “friendly smartphone”, the dualband UMTS (900/2100) quadband GSM device will feature LG’s own S-Class user interface and their “SNS Manager” (Social Networking Service) to hook your contacts up with your Facebook, Twitter or other social networks you’re on. On top of that, there’s also facial recognition that automatically spots people and tags them.
Although there’s no price leak for LG’s new GW620, TFTS ninjas have found out that the phone will be released in “select European markets” before the end of 2009 — maybe just in time for the holiday season?
