Telus to Launch HSPA+ Network on November 5

As you might recall, Telus has finished deploying its ultrafast HSPA+ network in Canada and it’s getting ready to rumble! Although it’s not the official 2010 Winter Olympics carrier like Bell, Telus also has a new HSPA+ which means that new devices are coming.
The Canadian carrier will launch its baby network on November 5 and its subscribers will have a bunch of hot phones to choose from in the following months.
The iPhone 3GS will probably be the flagship HSPA+ phone of Telus. The company has confirmed it a while ago and starting next week you’ll be able to get it next week. In fact Telus will be matching Rogers’ prices when it comes to the iPhone 3GS and it will even offer the iPhone 3G to its customers. Unfortunately the subsidized prices come with 3-year agreements but at least you’ll get to play with HSPA+ speeds. And here the prices for the iPhones are:
- $99.99 for 8GB iPhone 3G
- $199.99 for16GB iPhone 3GS
- $299.99 for 32GB iPhone 3GS
Rogers and Bell should definitely pay special attention to Telus as the carrier prepares for a lot of other phones. Future HSPA+ customers will be able to choose some of the latest handsets available on the market for subsidized prices. Although there are no details regarding pricing and availability dates we assume that all the other smartphones are going to be available in time for Christmas.
Not everyone will be happy with an iPhone and they will want to choose a smartphone from the competition. Android lovers will be able to get the HTC Hero while BlackBerry fans will be able to purchase the BlackBerry Bold 9700. The new LG Chocolate BL40 is also available for purchase and Nokia is also present with its famous E71 smartphone. Looking for an USB modem capable of HSPA+ speeds rather than a new phone? Telus has the Sierra 306 Internet key scheduled for release at some point in the near future.
Your move Bell! Show us what you have to offer!
