Sony Ericsson to Announce Xperia X3 Rachael on November 3

Sony Ericsson has been a disappointing handset maker lately. The Japanese-Swedish giant hasn’t been able to come up with a hot phone in a while and the company has reported losses every quarter. It even failed to launch and Android phone yet although all the signs are there. Android is getting a lot more attention from carriers and manufacturers and we’re about the see a lot of new Android-based gadgets soon.
HTC is for now the most successful Android cell phone maker but Motorola is closing in fast. So why has Sony Ericsson disregarded Android phones when more and more people want them? Why hasn’t Sony Ericsson been following those rumors saying that Motorola is going to focus on Android phones? After all Motorola isn’t doing that good either. A former major player in the mobile business, Motorola has realized that making RAZR phone after RAZR phone was not going to be enough anymore and it shifted its attention to Google’s mobile OS.
And while Motorola has already launched an Android phone, the CLIQ, and it’s getting ready to launch at least another two by the end of the year, Sony Ericsson is yet to show its audience that it’s ready for Android phones..
That might change however starting with November 3. A special event is scheduled for next week and it looks like the Xperia X3 aka Rachael, Sony Ericsson’s first Android phone, will be finally unveiled. The phone’s name, “Rachael”, has been found in the HTML code of Sony Ericsson’s “What’s Next” webpage so it looks like next week we might be able to confirm everything,
The Rachael is said to arrive with a 4-inch WVGA display, an 8-megapixel camera and a super fast 1GHz Snapdragon processor. These features are very much in line with what we’ve heard about the Xperia X10 last week. According to some sources the X10 should be the first Android phone coming from Sony Ericsson’s plants and not the X3. Whatever the model number of the device, it’s a safe thing to say that the phone will be known as the Rachael. Unfortunately for Sony Ericsson it might be too little and way too late. The Droid will probably sell like hot cakes especially since the Internet is buzzing about the Droid. On the other hand nobody really cares all that much about the Rachael right now.
