If you enjoyed the monsterish Honda Civic Type R MUGEN that hailed from Tokyo, we’re back in here appealing to your needs for speed with the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec that’s preparing for a SEMA debut. Specially built for the budget tuner who’s looking for blank canvas to prove its creativity, the car is actually a Genesis Coupe 2.0T Track model at its core, one that eliminates non-essential convenience equipment which results in both cost and weight reductions.
Expected to show off at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center next week, Hyundai has managed to put genuine track-readiness and powertrain scalability into the new Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec thanks to its tuned-up suspension, 19-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels, Brembo brakes and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
Power to the wheels comes from a 2.0-liter low-pressure turbocharged intercooled four-cylinder engine with dual continuously variable valve timing that outputs 210 hp and achieves a top speed of 137 mph. On top of that there’s a 6-speed close-ratio manual gearbox, ESP with traction control, ABS, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and Brake Assist.
Base prices for the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec start just shy of $23,750. Not a bad deal, eh?
