Isn’t it a bit funny how new mobile phones these days debut either in the US, Europe or China? Well it looks like Samsung sees money in other markets, hence why they’ve officially announced the new Samsung Galaxy Spica in Russia — which is faster than our previous reports that the handset will release in early 2010.
The new Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 is the company’s second Android smartphone and the lighter sibling of the Galaxy i7500. Users will get to play with a 3.0-inch WQVGA TFT AMOLED touchscreen display, with a a 3.2-megapixel camera (with no flash), WiFi , Bluetooth and an user-friendly touch QWERTY-keyboard that will make texting or emailing easy.
If our Russian is good, together with quadband GSM and dualband 900/2100 UMTS/HSPA the Galaxy Spica comes with a “powerful” 800MHz processor, has 128 MB of RAM and a microSD card slot to store pictures and videos. On top of all those Google services that come with the Android OS, there’s also a built-in A-GPS, a digital compass and a “powerful” 1,500mAh battery.
The new Samsung Galaxy Spica will start selling on the Russian market next month priced at 14,000 rubles which is about $480 at today’s rate.
