That’s right BlackBerry lovers, after we’ve seen the Storm 2 officially unveiled by Verizon Wireless and after we’ve showed you that a new BlackBerry OS is coming your way, we have one more piece of news related to RIM phones. Allerta, a Waterloo-based company, has a totally new gadget, a Bluetooth watch for the BlackBerry, the inPulse.
The new device is going to be available to the masses only in February 2010 but that doesn’t mean you can’t pre-order it right now. The inPulse is a Bluetooth watch designed to work perfectly with your BlackBerry smartphone. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a watchphone as it won’t be able to do everything your Berry can. But it will be able to connect via Bluetooth to your smartphone and retrieve precious information from it.
Besides Bluetooth connectivity the inPulse comes with a 1.3-inch OLED display which can display SMS and MMS messages, emails, incoming call details or alarms. That way you won’t have to look for the smartphone all the time. The gadget could definitely be useful if you happen to sit through long classes, meetings or boring movies.
But do we really want a gadget with a screen so small? We keep asking for bigger, better touchscreen displays for our phones so why should we bother our eyes with a 1.3-inch screen that can only reveal so many lines of text at any time? Are we that lazy that we’d rather check out a watch instead of reaching for the actual BlackBerry to read mail and messages? I won’t even be mentioning driving around and reading messages from a watch because it might just sound too scary!
This smart watch will is available for pre-order for just $149. What do you say? Is that a fair price to begin with? How much would you willing to pay for it? I will remind you that LG actually has a watchphone which is certainly more expensive than the inPulse.
