Verizon to Launch Motorola Droid Next Week

Verizon Wireless and Motorola have been actively pursuing an offensive marketing campaign for the first Android phone coming from Big Red, the Droid. And it looks like Verizon is finally ready to launch the Droid at a special event hosted by Moto and Verizon on October 28.
Verizon has sent out invites for the press event that’s going to reveal the “most desirable phone of the year” and I’m already anxious to see the Droid in its official glory. Motorola’s second Android phone has the potential of becoming a remarkable handset. The Droid will probably be the Android phone to beat, at least by the end of the year, so you should be very interested in getting one.
We can’t but admire Verizon’s efforts to build buzz around the phone. The company has launched the iDon’t campaign meant to promote the upcoming Droid while taking a hit at Apple’s iPhone. Following the iDon’t, Motorola sent out teasers for the upcoming Droid. The message was once again clear: “in a world of doesn’t, Droid does.” We’ve already covered the phone extensively and it seems certain the Droid will be a hit phone soon. Too bad that Motorola isn’t thinking about the rest of the world right now! The Droid is scheduled to hit only U.S. markets in the following months while European customers will probably have to choose a different Android phone this Christmas.

Verizon will also be launching a second Motorola Android phone sometime in November or early December. While the Droid represents the high-end Android phone developed by Motorola under Google and Verizon supervision, the Calgary will be a more entry-level phone comparable to the CLIQ.
As you can see Verizon looks extremely interesting especially with the holidays approaching fast. The company will have at least two Android hot phones to offer and let’s not forget that the BlackBerry Storm 2 is scheduled to arrive in the following weeks too. No matter what you will choose, Android or BlackBerry, Motorola or RIM, Verizon will win either way! So what will you choose?
