If you’re anxiously awaiting getting your hands on the Nokia N900 it seems that you’re going to have to be even more patient following the N900’s release date already having slipped (it was due October) as, according to reports, Nokia are now refining the N900 following on from user feedback which now sees the N900’s shipping date set back to sometime in November.
In fairness, it was already known that the N900 would not see the light of day till next month – Peter Schneider, head of marketing at Maemo had confirmed this – but now, what with Nokia having received feedback from the 300 pre-production units loaned out to gain user reactions, it seems that this is now set in stone as Nokia look to refine the N900 experience consequent to having received what we assume to be constructive criticism, thus ensuring that they ‘provide the best user experience with the Nokia N900’.
Here’s the official word from Peter Schneider concerning the present status of the N900, as offered up by N900Blog:
In reference to your questions on the expected shipment date of the Nokia N900, let me tell you the latest information from Nokia:
The Nokia N900 is a great example of what we and the open source community have been able to achieve with Maemo software. We are working closely with open source developers and for example, at the Maemo Summit in October, we loaned 300 pre-production units to get more feedback from the community. This feedback is extremely important to us and as such we also want to provide the best user experience with the Nokia N900.
We expect it to start shipping during November 2009.
Peter Schneider
Head of Maemo Marketing
Nokia Corporation
So, those itching to avail themselves of the (it’s fair to say) highly anticipated N900 will have to wait till next month – perhaps even until the end of next month – no specific date has been offered, not that you’d expect it to be – whilst Nokia work to make your experience of the N900 all that more enjoyable. Fair enough.

That’s why u are so so behind of apple..
Shame on u nokia ,, u are still a loser and will be a loser…
That’s a little harsh, to say the least. If Nokia are working to make the N900 better based on initial user feedback I’m sure that its not just us who welcome this. Much better a delay now then Nokia releasing the N900 and then people complaining about x y z.
We say: Bravo Nokia.
the impatient part of me hates nokia but the logical side of me commends them. this delay means when i finally do get my n900 it should be mostly bug free. they should have done this with the n97.
Nokia please please add one thing to this gadget and I will buy it in a heartbeat. How about some love for xenon flash? How do they expect people to buy into their features if they are not accompanied by the crucial sub-feature??? why not add xenon flash to this and make my wet dream come true?
There are so many Products out there that live from SW Updates why does Nokia think their SW will makes such a big Progress in such a short time.
There can only be a Proplem with the System Update process, because the harm which is caused by this stupid waiting Strategy for even better SW an there will always be a better SW is much more expensive in the long run for Nokia!
Nokia and the community for this tablet/phone is extensive this is not just another phone from nokia.. it is a nerd dream come true …. i have the n770 n800 and n810 … this is what we have all been waiting for .. the wait is no big deal, im sure this is a good thing!
@ pavan….th n900 has so many better features than iphone and as far as iphone is concerned….not making it multitasking is a waste of its brilliance if u ask me….and th camera is borderline shite….apple has a lot 2 improve on as well…no phone company is perfect….and nokia r not losers, they r overall market leaders in phone sales….albeit for all phones combined….but still a commendable feat.
