After we’ve seen that new 40-inch HDTV from Bang & Olufsen, it’s now time to take a look at Lenovo’s new eco-friendly ThinkVision LCD monitors which are more affordable although not as impressive.
Lenovo has launched five new monitors: L2251x Wide, L1711p, L1951p Wide, L2240p Wide and L22510 Wide. These five panels are all TCO Certified and EPEAT Gold Rated 1. They are 50% more energy efficient than previous models and they’re capable of exceeding Energy Star 5.0 criteria 2. I am assuming you are looking for energy efficient LCD solutions for your home and/or business, not because you love Earth so much, but rather because you’d like to lower your monthly electricity bill.
The L2251x Wide is the flagship monitor of the five ThinkVision panels presented above. The monitor uses just 21 watts of power when running and comes with other features that will help you save energy. The ambient light and proximity sensors and the low-voltage white LED display will help you save an additional 10% of power a year. As you can see the LCD is smart enough to know you left the room and shuts itself down until you return.
The chassis of the monitor is made of 65% consumer recycled plastics and there’s no mercury used in the panel. As for packaging materials they come from 90% recycled packaging. Lenovo is also willing to assist U.S. customers with the whole recycle process when it comes to their old PC equipment so you should definitely check talk to a Lenovo representative in your area for more PC-recycling details.
Tired of eco-friendly stuff? Then let’s look at what these new ThinkVision LCD monitors will have to offer. You can expect 1,680 resolutions, 1000:1 contrast ratio, a 5ms response time, DisplayPort connectivity and up to four USB ports. Lenovo’s “greenest monitors yet” will come in sizes from 17- to 22-inch and you’ll be able to pick yours by simply checking the name and selecting the appropriate size.
The L1951p Wide, L2250p Wide and L2251p Wide monitors will be available on October 23 for $239.99, $249.99 and $259.99m respectively while the L1711p and the L2251x Wide will be available in November but we have no pricing details at this point for them.
