iphone verizon lte

A new rumor circling the Internet is saying that Verizon will finally sell the iPhone next year. Whether you like it or not, the signs are all there and they are pointing to a 4G LTE iPhone.

First of all, LTE is going to be the next high-speed communication standard. Verizon has been testing it for a while now and it wants to deploy LTE as fast as possible in order to launch it next year. Apple will surely not miss the opportunity of bringing an updated 4G LTE iPhone to the table. And Verizon seems the way to go. After all, it’s no secret that Verizon’s nationwide network is superior to AT&T’s current capabilities!

Secondly, we’ve seen various carriers around the world losing iPhone exclusivity recently. In UK besides O2, Vodafone and Orange will sell the iPhone. In Canada besides Rogers, Bell and Telus are going to sell the iPhone. In other words Apple is ready to sign deals with other carriers in order to pitch the iPhone to other subscribers too. So why shouldn’t other carriers in the U.S. sell the iPhone too?

Thirdly, T-Mobile might start selling the iPhone in the USA sooner than we expect. If Apple is ready to make such a move then we assume Cupertino is considering Verizon too. After all Verizon is the number one carrier in the USA and it will offer more than 80 million potential iPhone buyers.

Last but not least, the upcoming Apple tablet was rumored to be sold by Verizon in 2010. Although that’s another unconfirmed rumor, it’s clear that Verizon and Apple are negotiating a future partnership.

That brings us to current rumors which say that Apple and Verizon have been testing a 4G LTE iPhone over the last few months. This CDMA iPhone should work on the carrier’s newest 700MHz network although nothing is confirmed at this point. So don’t expect any arrival dates and pricing details yet!

What we can easily assume is that Apple is going to roll out a new iPhone next summer. And it might just be a 4G LTE iPhone ready to be used in various networks, CDMA included. Apple wants to sell even more iPhones at this point so terminating exclusivity deals and focusing on emerging technologies such as LTE seems the right way to go.
