Earlier today we showed you a brand new eBook reader. The oddly named Alex Android eBook reader has been made official by Spring Design but that’s not the only reader we have for you today.
Remember that Barnes & Noble color eBook which we’ve had in our sights in the last couple of weeks? Well it has been made official by its creator. Plastic Logic has announced the QUE proReader (that’s the official name so far) but the manufacturer failed to reveal the main specs, the prices and arrival dates. What we do know is that the QUE will arrive at the next CES and January 7, 2010 is the day when we’ll return with more details.
The QUE appears to be the official reader of Barnes & Noble. At this point we have no idea whether it will sport a color screen or not and the teaser image above doesn’t show the screen. Instead we can see that this QUE will be one of the slimmest gadgets out there as it measures less than a third of an inch in thickness.
So let’s see what we do know about the QUE proReader! The device will measure 8.5 x 11-inches and it will use the E Ink Vizplex technology in a shatterproof touchscreen display. Other features include 3G connectivity via AT&T and an eBook store that will be available at QUEreader.com. Barnes & Noble will be bringing all those titles at the QUE store.
The QUE will let you read PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents but you will also be able to edit them which sounds very good at this point. That means you’ll be able to work on your documents while on the go which is not something other readers are willing to let you do yet.
Wait a second there! Wouldn’t you be better of f with a tablet instead? You know, a tablet would look like a reader and it will also let you read and edit documents. It would also have a touchscreen display, 3G and WiFi connectivity and it will bring a lot more color in your life. Not to mention it will also offer audio and video playback too.
