The Korean company KT is set to launch its first ever WiBro handset (WiBro being Korea’s WiMax network) in the form of the Samsung SPH-M8400 smartphone which will compete directly with SK Telecom’s WiBro/WiMax capable Samsung handset, though at this juncture neither a release date or pricing is to be confirmed.
The Samsung SPH-M8400 smartphone especially distinguishes itself in boasting a sizable 3.7” AMOLED 16M color display offering 800 x 480 (WVGA) resolution whilst also packing a 5 megapixel camera and, being set for the Korean market, naturally T-DBM (digital mobile TV) is also in evidence. Assumedly running WinMo 6.5, the Samsung SPH-M8400 additionally offers both 3G and WiFi connectivity.
Set to retail via KT at an as yet unspecified date, its interesting to note that KT are actively promoting the device’s VoiP capabilities (unlike many a provider, including my own here in the UK, KT appears to be positively embracing VoiP) and, in that respect, are also set to introduce lower pricing on its data rates but, at this juncture, there’s also no specific detail here either.
