EyeTV App Streams Media Over 3G on the iPhone

EyeTV iPhone App With Built-in Backdoor, Apple May Not Like It

EyeTV iPhone App

Elgato is an OS X DVR software and television tuning/encoding hardware provider that has come up with an EyeTV app that streams both live and recorded content originating from your Mac — which you register it free on their My EyeTV service. Although the biggest drawback of the applications was that it couldn’t streamed over a Wi-Fi connection, our good friends from ElectricPig in the UK have found out a quick and easy workaround to allow it even if you’re on a 3G connection.

Make sure you’re getting the “Live TV playback requires a Wi-Fi network connection” when using it over 3G. “Tap the OK button, and the app will act as if it can’t receive broadcasts. However, tap the text of the warning message instead, and the Eye TV app will stream live TV over a 3G connection.”

Not sure if Apple or mobile operators Are going to find the $5 application and its little backdoor, funny, what we’re certain is that we’ll enjoy it as much as we can, before it gets taken off the AppStore.
