Dell's Android Smartphone To Be Available in the US Next Year

Dell Branded Smartphone to be Announced

Not that we wouldn’t have heard it before, this time, Michael Dell himself came forward announcing that the company is actually keen on getting smartphones branded with the Dell logo by next year — although he failed updating if it’s going to be available on AT&T or not.

“That’s a starting point for us. You’ll probably see products next year in the U.S. that are family members of the things we started in China,” said CEO Michael Dell. “There are some other open platforms that are emerging that are similar to other businesses we participate in,” he also added.

Apparently Dell is going to come up with an Android smartphone for the US market in 2010, but will also consider other platforms, which makes us think that Windows Mobile 6.5 will also be running on a Dell phone, in the near future. Rumors have it the phone is going to be an upgraded version of the Dell mini 3i that has been available on China Mobile, will feature a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and 3G.
