Palm Pre's GSM Version to Debut in Germany on O2

About three weeks ago we caught wind that Palm’s Pre is coming to Europe and that O2 is going to be the exclusive carrier to sell it starting October 13th. It looks like things confirmed, went smooth and now the GSM version of the Pre has been introduced in Germany.
“We operate one of the most modern mobile telecommunications networks in Europe and offer our customers a simple and transparent tariff structure. In combination with Palm Pre our customers experience top-class mobile communications. With Palm Pre the mobile internet becomes the easiest thing in the world,” said René Schuster, CEO of O2 Germany.
For our Deutsch comrades who don’t know much about it, the smooth, elegantly rounded and ergonomic design manages to include a full QWERTZ slide-out keyboard, features a rather large 3.1-inch touch screen with a vibrant 24-bit color 320×480 resolution HVGA display, a 3-megapixel camera, integrated GPS, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity and 8GB of built-in memory. Running on Palm’s new webOS, there’s also a high-performance, desktop-class web browser, an accelerometer to flip the phone the way you need, messaging support for IM, SMS and MMS, and email support (Microsoft Exchange, POP3 or IMAP).
Other than getting their hands on the new Palm Pre, two new free applications have also been announced for the Pre’s catalog –- ran and VZ-Netzwerke, both in German — with more to come in the next few days.
Price wise, Telefonica O2 Germany will sell the device for €481 without contract, or in 24 monthly rates of €20 each.
