Acer Aspire AS5738PG-6306 multitouch notebook

Having just posted about the new Acer Aspire Timeline AS1810TZ CULV notebooks, and having stated that if you’re looking for mulittouch functionality you’ll need to look elsewhere, perhaps that elsewhere is here as along with the new Aspire Timeline notebook Acer have also announced their first ever touchscreen, mulittouch capable notebook in the form of the Acer Aspire AS5738PG.

Billed as offering ‘a natural and enhanced way to interact with the PC, applications and digital data’ the newly unveiled Acer Aspire AS5738PG (specifically the AS5738PG-6306  as detailed below) multitouch touting notebook, aside from facilitating touch and gesture control – including pinching inward or outward to zoom in and out of photos, flicking the screen to turn pages and browse through media and documents and swirling their finger for quick and simple navigation of lists – comes with a 15.6” 16:9 aspect ratio HD LED-backlit display offering 1366 x 768 resolution as well as 5.1-channel surround sound output, complete with Dolby Home Theater Audio Enhancement, making the Acer Aspire AS5738PG particularly suited as a mobile theater entertainment notebook.

“Customers will experience an incredible level of flexibility and control in the multi-touch screen interface, as it frees them to interact with their digital world in a way that is familiar yet also new and exciting,” said Ray Sawall, senior manager of product marketing for Acer America who introduced the Acer Aspire AS5738PG. “The Acer Aspire 5738PG’s multi-touch experience takes advantage of the many new capabilities in Windows 7 and provides incredibly powerful first-rate technology such as ATI Radeon graphics and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.”
