Whilst detail is rather thin on the ground right now – what with the handset not even haven been officially announced as yet – thanks to the FFC we can at least confirm that Sonim’s XP1 ultra durable phone is set to get a successor in the form of the Sonim XP2 which is otherwise going by then name of the ‘Spirit’ which, unlike the Sonim XP1, is set to offer 3G connectivity.

Of course, at this juncture, and what with Sonim yet to unveil their XP2 Spirit phone, we have nothing by way of confirmed specifications or features – aside from the fact that its to be Sonim’s first 3G phone – and there’s also nothing in the form of imagery apart from these somewhat blurred shots that show a octagonal design which, due the nature of the shape, hints at a handset that may prove even more durable than the XP1 (which was hardly lacking in terms of its resistant to shocks, impacts, water, mud and just about anything else you could throw at it – as can be evidenced in the video contained in the post linked above). You can view what the FFC do have available here.

We await official word from Sonim and will bring you the low-down in terms of what the XP2 Spirit brings to the table the moment Sonim decide to spill the beans.
