Verizon HTC Imagio Release Date & Pricing Confirmed [Touchscreen WinMo 6.5 Imagio To Hit Verizon October 6th]

Already it appears that it’s going to be Verizon’s day here at TFTS what with the news concerning Verizon’s Motorola Barrage and Nokia 2705 Shade having already made the site and now, just to top it all off, Verizon have additionally confirmed that they are set to offer the Windows Mobile 6.5 powered HTC Imagio thouchscree (successor to the HTC Diamond) from October 6th – making Verizon one of the first networks to offer a handset powered by the new WinMo 6.5 OS.

The HTC Imagio, which comes with a 528Mhz Qualcomm MSM7200A CPU under the hood paired with 512MB ROM and 288MB RAM (which can be supplemented with microSD/SDHC cards, sports a 3.6” 65K color 480 x 800 (WVGA) resolution TFT touchscreen display offering a virtual QWERTY keyboard as well as than all important PMP functionality that takes in MPEG4, 3G2, WMV and AVI video formats as well as MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, WAV and AMR audio file formats – all courtesy of Windows Media Player (of course, this is a WinMo device after all).

Further highlights include stereo Bluetooth and WiFi (802.11b/g) wireless connectivity whilst you can also factor in a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, inbuilt GPS, IMAP/POP3/SMTP mail support and PIM features such as an alarm, calendar, calculator, to-do lists and notes. Additionally, thanks to Verizon’s Lifestyle services, you can also count on the HTC Imagio offering CAST Mobile TV and V CAST Video on Demand support – the former taking in the likes of CBS and Fox news, CNBC, MTV, NBC (news /sports) – as well as access to Rhapsody courtesy of Verizon’s V CAST Music service.

Billed as being the perfect handset for global roaming thanks to its Quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 + 2100 HSPA connectivity, the Verizon HTC Imagio is set to become available via Verizon’s online portable from October 6th which will be followed by the Imagio hitting Verizon’s stores around October 20th.

The Verizon HTC Imagio will set you back just shy of $200 based on a 2 year contract and subsequent to mailing in a $100 rebate.
