
Pico projectors have earned our sympathy by allowing to throw in a movie party whenever you want and on every wall you decide it’s suited, but the high prices these small devices sell for, have kept many from bring one home (or to their pockets). Things however are about to change as the good folks from Optoma have just introduced their new entry-level PK-100 pico-projector for a reasonable price.
The new Optoma PK-100 delivers images at 480 x 320 resolutions, features a mind-blowing 1,000:1 contrast ratio, outputs 11 lumens of brightness and is capable of sizing up images for as far as 66 inches.
Meant as a more simplified version of the miniature projectors Optoma has released before, the PK 100 uses the same .17 DLP DMD chip, is powered by three LED lamps (red, green and blue) and boasts composite-video inputs to connect to a digital camera, a game console or any similar devices.
Optoma’s PK 100 pico projector is going to be sold for $199 but no word regarding availability as of now.
