New BlackBerry Atlas Spied Online

Most people in the market for a new smartphone, who are considering a BlackBerry, already know that it’s tough to choose one as they all look quite similar. Speaking of similarities, RIM is rumored to be working on a new handset. Supposedly known as BlackBerry Atlas, the new mobile phone has been spied recently and on a first glance it looks similar with the current Curve 8900 — which leads us thinking, this is just a facelifted BlacBerry Bold intended for different other markets.

More specifically, this new BlackBerry Atlas (if that’s even its real name) has the same optical trackpad as the Curve 8520, the same keyboard as the BlackBerry Javelin and has Bold stamped on its backside.
Although we would have expected it to be a CDMA handset, it’s just a GSM smartphone that supports EDGE networks. Other specs include a camera with flash, Wi-Fi connectivity, but no 3G.
There’s no release date or a price for this little one, but word is that China and East Asia will be getting it sometime soon.
