LaCie USB-powered Sound2 Speakers Announced

LaCie and loudspeaker manufacturer Cabassee have joined forces to come up with a stylish pair of USB-powered speakers. Designed to be used with any Mac computer or PC, with the iPhone, iPod and virtually any media player there is, theĀ LaCie Sound2 Speakerss ystem has a plug-and-play connection that will help you set it up in no time — it’s driver-free for Mac and PC.
The LaCie Sound2 loudspeakers feature a built-in Class D digital amplifier with magnetic shielding that helps each speaker output a good 15W, for a total 30W peak. Other than that, the USB-powered speakers are also fitted with Cabasse’s Wide Band Drivers that vouch to deliver Hi-fi sound quality by offering a frequency response between 80Hz and 20kHz.
Crafted with a bass reflex design to better the low-end soudns, these little gadgets — which only measure 7.87 x 5.51 inches and roughly weigh 3.34 lbs, are compatible with Mac OS X 10.3 or higher, Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7.
