Phase One 645DF Dual Shutter Camera Announced

Amongst the Fastest Flash Syncs Cameras in the World

Phase One 645DF camera

Phase One have just announced an upgrade to their 645 core medium-format camera. Dubbed Phase One 645DF, it’s an amalgamation of lens, body, back and software, perfectly mixed together for amazing harmony. But enough with the poetry, because the 645DF has managed to impress us with both a traditional leaf shutter as well as a focal plane shutter, for better responsiveness and ultimate image quality.

Other than that, the Phase One 645DF also has one of the fastest flash syncs in a camera, flashing the light up to a 1/1,600 second shutter speed, with exposure times from as low as 1/4,000 of seconds to as much as a full hour — which sounds incredible. That means you’re getting a very smart camera that boasts a faster autofocus and one that can remember the settings for certain shooting conditions.

Meant for a debut this fall, the new Phase One 645DF is expected to sell for $5,998 without lens or a digital back, which would cost an additional $2,490 if you’re in for 55mm, 80mm and 110mm f2.8 lenses.
