Acer AspireRevo Nvidia ION LE Nettop Released

During the course of last week we offered you a heads up concerning a number of nettops – namely the Asus Eee Top ET2002T & ET2203T, Lenovo IdeaCentre Q110 and LG XPION X30 – but, if you’re looking for a little more processing clout for your hard earned cash, the newly released Acer AspireRevo, which includes a model touting Nvidia’s ION LE graphics, will doubtless be of particular interest.

Quite possibly one of the most interesting nettops to release over the past few months, the particularly compact Acer AspireRevo AR1600-U910H, which measures in at just 7.1” x 7.1” x 1.2”, comes with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom 230 CPU, 1GB DDR2 RAM and 160GB SATA hard disk (pretty standard so far) but with the added bonus of a Nvidia ION LE chipset sporting ION LE GPU which will happily deliver Full HD video content as well as deliver pretty reasonable performance in terms of gaming (or, at least, far better than is the case with other no ION LE touting nettops – though to term this as a top-spec gaming rig would be pushing things a little too far).

Other notable highlights include VGA and HDMI outputs, the latter allowing you to hook up the AspireRevo AR1600-U910H to HDTVs with ease to experience that 1080p video output in all its glory, whilst you can also factor in HD audio support, Gigabit Ethernet LAN and integrated memory card reader and a total of six USB ports – tow of which are front mounted (front mounted USB ports are a plus in anyone’s book).

Interestingly, the AspireRevo AR1600-U910H, which is additionally supplied complete with bundled keyboard and mouse, unlike one of the aforementioned offerings (which we took a dim view on), comes in at a far from unreasonable price considering what’s up for grabs here – specifically $199.99.

A sub $200 price point for an ION LE touting nettop? It’s a steal, and it certainly indicates that other nettop producers (no names, though it’s tempting) need to seriously up their game and/or take a reality check.
