Alpine iXA-W407 Digital Media Station With iPhone/iPod Support

If you’re looking an in-car (head unit) entertainment system Alpine hope that there just released iXA-W407 Digital Media Station, which comes a 7” touchscreen display and touts both iPhone and iPod support, may get you splashing the cash in no small part due to its optional capability to function as a navigations aid thanks to its ability to hook up with Alpine’s NVE-M300 GPS Navigation Drive.

Available either separately or as a combined package bringing together both the iXA-W407 Digital Media Station and the NVE-M300 GPS Navigation Drive (without the latter you’ll have to make do without the device functioning as a navigational aid) Alpine’s latest Digital Media Station, apart from offering up the aforementioned 7” QVGA touchscreen display, boasts integrated FM/AM tuner, USB connectivity (allowing you to hook up other PMPs and/or DAPs other than the supported iPhone/iPod) as well as integrated Parrot Bluetooth wireless technology allowing for hands free calls from cell phones. No CD player, however.

Aside from the optional NVE-M300 GPS Navigation Drive, which serves to bring full GPS navigation functionality to the iXA-W407 – which, according to Alpine, ‘uses three technologies – satellite-linked positioning data, gyro sensor technology (to determine the vehicle’s direction) and accelerometer technology (to gauge the vehicle’s speed) – resulting in continuous coverage of the location of your vehicle’ – you also have the option of bolting-on the TUA-T550HD HD Radio Module and/or the PXA-H100 which brings IMPRINT Sound Processor technology into the equation to enhance sound clarity.
Yes, as you’d probably gathered, if you want to opt in for the whole deal its going to cost you, and cost you dear, as the iXA-W407 Digital Media Station alone will set you back $800. Go for the iXA-W407 and the NVE-M300 GPS Navigation Drive and you can factor in an additional $450 whilst it you want to add the TUA-T550HD HD Radio Module that’ll be another that’s another $230 – and, well, you get the picture.
