Asus have just unveiled two new, high-end portable gaming rigs in its award winning G-Series in the form of the Asus G60 and G71GX Republic of Gamers Notebooks which, according to Asus’s press release, offer ‘futuristic yet practical construction aimed at allowing gamers to play harder, longer and faster’.
The G60, which Asus are touting as the world’s first 16” display notebook to come with NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics under the hood as well as Creative EAX Advanced HD 4.0 audio paired with Altec Lansing speakers, and the 17” G71GX, which is billed as the first notebook to come with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M graphics, PhysX and Cuda support combined with a high definition 1920 x 1200 resolution 17” screen, are, as their Republic of Gamers tag suggests, aimed at gamers looking for prime performance portable gaming machines and if you’re not already impressed these model specific run-downs of their key features should just about seal it.

Asus G60 Republic of Gamers Notebook Key Features:
- 1GB of GDDR2 dedicated video memory
- User Enhanced Experience:
- Illuminated backlit keyboard for easy all-night gameplay
- Blu-ray for high definition playback
- 2.0M Pixel Webcam for real-time video gaming
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to stay in the game
- Express Gate – boot up in less than 8 seconds
- Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows 7 Upgrade
Asus G71GX Republic of Gamers Notebook Key Features:
- 1GB of GDDR2 dedicated video memory – scores over 10,000 on 3DMark06
- Great Audio:
- Dolby Home Theater and Altec Lansing speakers provide powerful bass and a crisp audio experience.
- User Enhanced Experience:
- Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9000
- 4GB DDRIII 1066MHz memory
- Blu-ray for high definition playback
- 2.0M Pixel Webcam for real-time video gaming
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to stay in the game
- Express Gate – boot up in less than 8 seconds
- Windows Vista Ultimate with Windows 7 Upgrade
Both of Asus’s new high-end portable gaming rigs which, incidentally, feature ‘futuristic’ and ‘extreme high-tech’ designs purportedly inspired by robots (yup, right) and which score a benchmark of over 10,000 in 3DMark06 (which impresses the socks off us, don’t know about you), are available as of this very moment with the Asus G60 Republic of Gamers Notebook coming in at just shy of $2,370 whilst the higher-spec’d G71GX will set you back just short a mere $3,020.
We should stress that if Asus are looking to throw out a few review units, they really should get in touch (hell, it’s worth a try – wouldn’t you?).
