If there’s one thing that can be said for a good set of gaming headphones it’s that they should be both comfortable and sound great. I mean that’s why you bought them in the first place, right? Besides, who wants a migraine headache after a 12-hour session of World at War? Known for pushing out top-end gaming gear, the engineers at SteelSeries have taken an already fantastic set of gaming headphones and improved upon them. The new SteelSeries Siberia v2 combines all of the great features of the first-gen Siberia with come great new features that might have actually been worth the wait.

The new SteelSeries Siberia v2 headphones are one slick set of audio gear. The original SteelSeries Siberia full-size headset is already a huge success in the gaming market and has even found several high-profile followers in the music industry. So why would they go around messing with a good thing? Because they know that in order to remain relevant they have to keep innovating. The Siberia v2 features a new “invisible” retractable microphone that pulls out from the left earcup. This should definitely come in handy as a space-saver for traveling gamers.

Another improvement over the original Siberia are the Siberia v2′s increased 50-mm speakers and increased frequency response of 10-28,000 Hz. From a look at the specs it’s clear to see that these were designed for professional gamers where detailed accurate sound is critical. The new Siberia v2 also sports leather-clad, padded earcups so you can completely isolate yourself from the world once you put them on. Along with the new sound-isolating earcups comes a patented headband suspension system that makes it practically weightless on your head. Just don’t forget you’re wearing it and leave the house. Not a good look.

Some of the other key features of the new SteelSeries Siberia v2 Full-size Headset include 32Ohm impedance, SPL at 1kHz of 112dB, dual 3.5-mm jacks and 50-16,000 Hz unidirectional microphone. The volume regulator, the cord and its base have also been upgraded. SteelSeries shortened the length of the primary cord and included a longer, secondary cord for use with less portable systems.

The SteeelSeries Siberia v2 gaming headset will be available globally sometime this November. It will be offered in two versions, both with and without an integrated USB surround 7.1 soundcard. No word yet on pricing. For more info head on over to www.steelseries.com.
