Samsung SP-A600 Home Theater Projector

We have covered quite a few home theater projectors in recent weeks and it certainly seems as if their marketers are going into overdrive to get the word out. The most recent projectors from Samsung were the high-end SP-A800 and SP-A900 full-HD models and the time has come for another. Samsung has decided to use their time at this year’s CEDIA show in Atlanta to formally unveil their new SP-A600 home theater projector and given its price point I think it couldn’t have come at a better time.
There really isn’t too much information available just yet on the newest Samsung high-definition home theater projector. It offers full HD at 1080p using Samsung’s typically good DLP technology. It offers a maximum brightness of 1000 Lumens at a dynamic contract ratio of 3000:1. The 220W lamp is listed as having a 4,000-hr lifetime in eco mode or 3,000-hrs in bright mode. This isn’t all that impressive and breaks down to only 2,000 2-hr long movies in the best case. If you’re a movie nut like me, you easily watch five to seven movies a week at home and with this projector at maximum brightness I’d have to change out the bulb every seven months.
The Samsung SP-A600 has two HDMI ports, composite, component, and S-video inputs and I wouldn’t expect to get a massive projection size with the short-throw, 1.99 ratio lens. It should be more than adequate for most home theaters, though. The SP-A600 is expected to become available any day now with an MSRP of $1,795.

It’s been really busy lately because of CEDIA. It is over now and we can start cleaning up the pieces and trying to catch up with all that happened. I definitely think this year is going to be huge for the home theater projector. Fingers Crossed.
There is no doubt that there has been a tremendous amount of press in this particular niche. Feels like it could be ready to burst. Much luck!
