Only just last week we offered you a heads up concerning OWC’s latest 750GB Mercury On-The-Go portable HDD (the highest capacity to grace their Mercury On-The-Go line-up to date) and now OWC have followed up with the a new range of Mercury On-The-Go portable SSD units that, like its aforementioned HDD series, boasts USB and optional FireWire connectivity.

The new OWC Mercury On-The-Go portable SSDs, apart from being billed as being the cheapest portable SSDs offering FireWire 800/400 or USB 2.0 connectivity, come in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities with 64MB integrated cache whilst offering data transfer speeds of up to 100MB per second.

Each of OWC’s new solid state drives come bundled with a carry case and a suite of software titles offering support of both Windows and Mac systems taking in Intech SpeedTools Utilities (For Mac OS 8.6 – X only), Prosoft Engineering Data Backup (Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later), NovaStor NovaBACKUP (Windows 2000 or later) and Carbon Copy Cloner (Mac OS X 10.4 or later) and are available as of now with the 64GB, 128GB and 256GB units retailing at around $180, $450 and $730 respectively.
