Apple’s Macbook Air managed to set a new standard for slim notebooks, but now, Dell is breaking that record with their new Dell Adamo XPS design concept. As thin as a finger but slightly thicker than a MacBook Pro’s display, at only 9.99 mm (that’s about 0.39-inch) the new Dell Adamo XPS ultraportable is only half the size of the Macbook Air, which measures 1.74mm, and thinner than the Apple iPhone 3GS.

Part of their teasing campaign to get people drooling, Dell released a preview of the device today. Besides being very thin, the Dell Adamo XPS ultraportable also features a stylish and clean design. Other than looking like something out of the future, word is that the neat machine weighs around two pounds and features a full keyboard that flips away from the display.
A notebook this thin would surely have to counter many challenges including heat and battery life, but Dell seems to be serious about pushing the limits of technology with this design.
Although no other info has been released concerning a release date or prices, the super-skinny notebook got a special teaser page for interested people to signup for updates.
