Asus Designo MS LCD Monitor Range Unveiled [Asus Designo MS246, MS236, MS227, MS226 & MS202]

Asus have unveiled a new range of ultra slim LCD monitors known as the Asus Designo MS Series which consists of five models taking in a swathe of screen sizes – specifically the Designo 23.6″ MS246, 23″ MS236, 22″ MS227, 21.5″ MS226 & 20″ MS202 – and which, thanks to their particularly swanky aesthetics, are sure to turn more than a few heads when they eventually hit retail.

Billed as set to ‘astound users with a perfect combination of exceptional style and picture quality’ (Asus have never been ones that are backwards in coming forwards in terms of press release gambits) the new Designo MS LCD Monitor Range, which are purportedly ‘inspired by the binary state’ – which translates to them featuring contrasting stylistic elements (like the numbers 1 and 2 Asus remind us, just in case we’ve forgotten exactly what binary’s all about) – come in at a decidedly sleek 16.5mm thickness whilst positively packing in the features.

Offering Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution in the case of the MS246, 23″ MS236, 22″ and 21.5″ MS226 whilst the 20″ MS202 offers 1600 x 900 with the 22″ MS227 (interestingly, considering its screen size) coming in at 1680 x 1050 (why this 22″ model comes sans Full HD capabilities eludes us) all of the Designo MS screens additionally sport 16:9 aspect ratio displays offering a total of 16.7 million colors, contrast ratios of 50000:1 and brightness levels of 250cd/m2 whilst are, it must be said, pretty reasonable if not outstandingly impressive.

further highlights across the Designo MS range additionally include a response time of a mere 2ms (expect in the case of the MS202 which comes in at 5ms) thus making them ideal for gaming whilst you can also factor in HDMI connectivity on all but the MS227 and the MS202 with D-Sub and featuring on all models (notably only the MS202 is listed as carrying a DVI-D port).

Add into the equation that all the newly announced Asus Designo MS LCD Series of monitors are manufactured using 50% less hazardous materials (than what exactly Asus don’t specify) as well as 40% reduced power consumption (again Asus don’t inform us what the comparison is made against) as well as the aforementioned designer looks and not too shabby specs and we don’t doubt that these are set to fly off the shelves like the proverbial hot cakes when the ship.

There is, however, no word from Asus at this juncture concerning any specific (or even wholly unspecific) release timeframes or, for that matter, even the vaguest hint at unit pricing.
