
With the increasing trend in embracing CULV (Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage) technology in mobile computing solutions showing no signs of abating – we’ve already covered a number of CULV notebooks such as the BenQ S35 & S43 Joybooks, the Samsung X Series X420, X520 and X120 and the Dell Inspiron 11Z – Gateway have now thrown themselves into the ring with the new EC1400-31K CULV notebook which is pending release in Japan.
Sporting an 11.6″ 1366 x 768 resolution widescreen LCD display, the Gateway EC1400-31K CULV notebook, which measures in at 285 x 204 x 22.1mm and weighs just 1.4kg, comes with a 1.2GHz Intel Celeron SU2300 dual core CPU under the hood paired with Intel’s GS45 Express chipset as well as 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive the all too obligatory 3 megapixel webcam and integrated Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth V2.1 wireless connectivity whilst also offering up three USB 2.0 ports and a HDMI port allowing for HDTV hook-ups.
Running Windows Vista Home Premium the Gateway EC1400-31K CULV notebook, which purportedly offers a battery life of up to a not too shabby 8 hours, is yet to be officially priced though various reports suggest that it’ll retail at around the 60,000 Yen mark (circa $644 as at the time of writing).
