Fujitsu Esprimo Q1500 Mini PC [Mobile Core 2 Duo CPU, Blu-ray, 4GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, HDMI Out]

I’m not really sure where we’ll top out with respect to how small desktop PCs need to be to remain practical, but I’m pretty sure that Fujitsu is just about south of the limit with their latest mini PC the Esprimo Q1500. I mean, really. At some point these things are going to be so small that people will end up losing them or accidentally throwing them out with the crumpled up Post-Its and TPS reports. OK, maybe really small PCs have a place when it comes to integration into your home entertainment center, in that instance, the smaller the better. But a desktop PC that’s barely larger than a coaster? The thing looks like a hotplate for crying out loud.

The Fujitsu Esprimo Q1500 mini PC is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a really small PC. I don’t have the numbers for how big it really is, but there is one particular blog, who shall remain nameless, has decided to start quoting size in volume. According to them, this PC is 1.4-L. Anyway, from the images I’ve see with someone holding the thing in their hand it would appear to be about 6×6x2-in (15.2×15.2×5-cm). This is only an estimate so be careful what you do with it now.

As for the guts of the machine, you won’t be disappointed. Fujitsu has jammed this thing full with goodies like a mobile Core 2 Duo CPU and a slot-loading Blu-ray drive. You also get a respectable 4GB of memory and a 320GB hard drive. And since there’s a high-definition video player in the thing you would think it would have HDMI out and you would be right. It would be nice if it had integrated wireless, too, but maybe having six USB ports will make up for it. Nah, not really.

The new Fujitsu Esprimo Q1500 is light only where it counts. It’s packed with a ton of great hardware and should find itself at home on anyone’s crowded desktop (or behind it if you aren’t careful) or entertainment system. The base system is expected to retail for just shy of $1000 and will see its introduction in Germany later this month.
