Samsung have confirmed that they are set to specifically target the youth market – or, rather, appeal to ‘the digitally connected lifestyles of today’s young mobile users’ – with the up and coming release of the Samsung Corby S3650 touchscreen phone which, apart from offering ‘full touch’ functionality, also aims to entice the younger consumer with integrated social network support taking in the likes of Facebook, Twitter and MySpace whilst additionally offering Pop-up SNS (Social Networking Service) notification for immediate status updates.

Set to commence shipping across Europe later this month (September ’09) the Quad-band GSM/EDGE Samsung Corby S3650 sports a 2.8″ QVGA screen touchscreen with haptic feedback whilst running the Samsung’s Touchwiz UI allowing for use of widgets and broad customisation via drag and drop as well as offering features first seen on premium handsets like the Samsung Jet such as ‘one finger zoom’ and ‘smart unlock’ – allowing for zooming with a single digit and locking the handset simply by ‘drawing a letter on the screen’.

Naturally, in being aimed at the youth market, you can also factor in an inbuilt media player as well as a 2 megapixel camera (allowing for yet more inane photos to be uploaded to social sites) as well as a WAP browser and there’s also Bluetooth with A2DP allowing the Corby S3650 to be hooked up wirelessly to Bluetooth headphones and/or speaker systems. There’s also a microSD card slot facilitating bolt-on extra storage capacity though, at this juncture, we’re in the dark as to the out of the box memory capacity of the device.

The Samsung Corby S3650, which will be offered in a suitably garish range of color schemes taking in orange and (of course) pink to name but two (the phone will actually come bundled with two Fashion Jackets), is set to retail for around the 150EUR price point and, at the time of writing, appears to be set for a European release only.
