Today at the Nokia World 2009 presentation, a new Facebook Mobile Client application for Nokia S40 handsets has been introduced. Similar to the ‘LifeCasting’ widget for S60 smartphones, the new application offers a the same functionality for all those who run S40 on their handset.
Other than offering status updates from Facebook’s huge mobile userbase – with more than 65 million mobile users in August alone, the new application also provides a homescreen widget. Facebook and Nokia believe that more people than ever want to share content, with an increasing number of people doing so on their mobile. This partnership with Nokia should help boost it to new levels.
The new S40 Facebook app is a multi-fold benefit that caters to a proven audience of heavy mobile users, distribution of apps via peoples’ Walls, authentication through facebook, commenting, sharing and more.
Along with the Nokia S40 Facebook app, the Facebook Connect for Mobile Web saw daylight, too. It’s a service that allows developers to integrate the social networking platform with their mobile applications.
