Back in June we offered you an initial heads up concerning the up and coming Logitech Squeezebox Touch and now, a little over two months later, Logitech have officially announced not only the Squeezebox Touch but also another member of their Squeezebox family of Wi-Fi players, the Squeezebox Radio.

First up is the Logitech Squeezebox Radio which, unlike the Squeezebox Touch, comes sans touchscreen instead opting for a color LCD display panel coming in at 2.4″ which, once connected to your home network thanks to its integrated 802.11g connectivity, will allow you to stream music from your PC as well as stream internet radio stations as well as listen to subscription based music services such as Napster, Pandora, Rhapsody, Sirius, and Last.fm. It’ll also happily allow you to hook up with Facebook – should you want to push your music tastes to friends, for example.

Logitech Squeezebox Radio Key Features:

  • Plays Internet radio and digital music files over your home Wi-Fi network including DRM-free iTunes Plus downloads, Internet radio, and subscription music services like Rhapsody, Napster, Pandora, Sirius, and others.
  • Integrated amplifier lets you enjoy full, high-quality sound with low distortion anywhere in your home thanks to an all-in-one design that includes speakers (woofers and tweeters). Just plug it in to a power outlet – no additional wires to connect.
  • Color screen can display album art, track and station information and photo screen savers.
  • Social Networking support: Facebook users can share music recommendations and see their friends’ recommendations right on the display and Flickr users can show a slideshow.
  • True 802.11g wireless networking optimizes wireless network speeds and provides a secure connection.
  • Auto-dimming display adjusts brightness based on room lighting, making Squeezebox Radio ideal for any room, including your bedside table.
  • 6 preset buttons allow one touch access to favorite radio stations and playlists.
  • Available in black or red.

The undoubted star of the show, however, is the Logitech Squeezebox Touch which offers all the functionality of the Squeezebox Radio whilst additionally touting a 4.3″ color touchscreen – capable of displaying album art – and offering the capability to play music directly from SD cards and USB flash drives as well as browse digital images (thus allowing the Touch to serve as a digiframe).
