LG have confirmed that they are to release their new 15″ OLED HDTV – which as yet remains untitled – in Korea from as early as November of this year with further international rollouts following in 2010 whilst additionally confirming that the 30″ OLED they’re presently developing will now be set back to a 2012 release.
Whilst specific details concerning LG’s new ultra slim OLED TV are yet to prove forthcoming what is being reported is that LG’s new OLED TV will purportedly boast 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio along with a screen life coming in at a not too shabby 30,000 hours as well as especially low power consumption levels – but that’s about all that’s known at the time of writing That said, those interested in getting the full low-down – which includes yourselves – won’t have to wait for long as LG are set to show the device at next week’s IFA 2009 consumer show in Berlin. Needless to say, we’ll be bringing you an update the moment LG offer up a full spec sheet.

Whilst confirming that their 15″ OLED HDTV will indeed see the light of day soon (especially if you’re Korea based) they have also stated that their 30″ OLED HDTV which is presently in development will be delayed till 2012 due to new manufacturing processes being required. So it’s not all good news for the OLED fan boys amongst you especially as we suspect that the up and coming 15″ model will whet your appetites for some big screen OLED goodness all the more.
And, as if a (delayed) 30″ LG OLED HDTV isn’t enough to see you frothing at the mouth we can also confirm that LG are looking at releasing a 40″ OLED display in what an LG spokesperson merely stated as the ‘not too distant future’. To me that’s nest week but in LG terms we suspect that’s some way off – especially considering the 30″ model is apparently going to be delayed.
As for pricing of the up and coming 15″ OLED model, understandably LG are remaining tight-lipped for now but it’s safe to say that if you have to ask….Still, in the ‘not too distant future’ OLED displays will undoubtedly be commonplace in our front rooms and we can’t wait.
Patience Grasshopper, patience.
