Think Geek True-Touch Roll-Up Keyboard

OK, so you know things are a bit slow out there when we once again revert to extolling the virtues of keyboards that roll up. I’ve written about similar items in the past (actually, it was a pink one made for teenage girls) and there isn’t really much to say about them other than they are keyboards and they roll up. The blue roll-up keyboard being offered by ThinkGeek.com is just that. It’s a blue 104-key QWERTY keyboard that you can roll up like a burrito for when you simply want it out of your way.

I suppose that the greatest use for the roll-up keyboard would be for people that travel with their laptops and are tired of hitting the wrong keys with their sausage fingers on those damn small portable keyboards. Don’t you hate when you accidentally open PowerPoint when all you really wanted to do was launch FireFox?

Anyway, according to the folks at ThinkGeek.com, the individual raised keys allow an amazing amount of tactile feedback when depressed. Who would have thought that the keys worked better then they were suffering from mental illness? Wider keys such as the “Space’ and “Backspace” keys contain multiple sensors to improve typing accuracy. And just when you thought that using this thing would be a no-brainer, they go and make some kind of disclaimer like “While it takes a bit of geting [sic] used to (finding the center of the keys is more essential than with normal keyboards), the portability of design and utter silence during use make this puppy a winner.” Ease of use as a trade-off for portability and quietness? I really don’t want to have to relearn how to use a keyboard, gentlemen.

If you love depressed keys and are up for a challenge, you can get your own True-Touch Roll-Up Keyboard for $23.99 at www.thinkgeek.com.
