Apple’s fabled tablet has not been confirmed yet and may not appear anytime in the near future, but there’s a possible alternative out there, the only catch is, that you can’t buy it, you will have to build it. Meet the iTab mini, a “Mac-tablet” which uses a 12-inch Powerbook as its base and weighs in at 1.84 kg.

Made by a Mac modder named Wei, the iTab mini runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz processor, packs 2GB of RAM, 160GB space on a hard drive, Mini VGA-in, Firewire 400, Magsafe, Ethernet, 1400 x 1050 pixels resistive touchscreen LCD, along with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Its specs are nothing to sneeze, the product itself looks very professional and the total budget for the device comes in at approximately $600-$700. Definitely something for the guys at Apple to take a look at.
