When it comes to keeping your data out of the wrong hands, there isn’t much that we won’t do. And with portable media devices becoming more and more common, those looking to get their hands on super secret information don’t have to work as hard anymore. The latest product offering from Apricorn, the Aegis Padlock Secure Hard Drive, is definitely a step in the right direction when it comes to keeping your important stuff under digital lock and key.
The Aegis Padlock Secure Hard Drive comes with an integrated keypad so you can key in your very own custom PIN numbers. Before data within can be accessed, you have to key in the appropriate code and viola…access granted. This feature will certainly help prevent data theft should someone happen to get some sticky fingers around your hardware. In addition, users will benefit from the option of either AES-128 or 256 bit encryption depending upon exactly how secure your data needs to be. The Aegis Padlock Secure connects to your computer via the attached USB 2.0 cable and is compatible with both the PC and Mac.
There is also a pretty handy Administrator feature that allows you to set up to ten user IDs and one administrator ID. This will prove itself useful for providing access to the data for project teams and other work groups while still maintaining control over the secure data.Other features include a 16-point omni-directional shock mounting system (sounds cool, whatever it is) and capacity variants of 250GB, 320GB and 500GB.
Pricing differs depending upon which encryption level you choose. The 128-bit AES models retail for $100, $110 and $140, respectively while the 256-bit AES models are a a tad more at $120, $130 and $160, respectively.
