Logitech G27 Racing Wheel Controller

When it comes to playing racing-type games on your gaming console there is nothing that adds to the realism like a well-made steering wheel controller. Heading into the turns while gripping the leather-wrapped wheel and clutching the shift knob with sweaty, expectant hands transports you to a world of burning rubber and exhaust fumes faster than a Grand Prix race. The purveyors of peripherals at Logitech have just announced the release of their recently upgraded G27 Racing Wheel controller and it’s sure to have the speed freaks shaking with anticipation.

The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel marks an upgrade to the popular G25 model. It features a dual-motor force feedback mechanism with helical gearing so you can actually experience traction loss, weight shift, and road feel right through the steering wheel. One of the most significant upgrades over the G25 is the addition of RPM/shift indicator LEDs. They’ll let you know just when to shift gears for maximum torque (in supported games).

The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel has sixteen programmable buttons plus a D-pad. You can map useful game functions to locations that make sense to you-whether on the wheel itself or on the shift module. The leather-wrapped wheel has 900-degree rotation so you can turn 2.5 times around lock-to-lock, just as you would behind the wheel of many real cars.

The pedals of the G27 are constructed of realistic steel and feature sturdy true-to-life action that delivers precise throttle, braking, and shifting control for heightened realism. There are also retractable teeth in the bottom of the pedal control box to prevent it from sliding around on carpeted floors. The G27 works with PC, PlayStation2, and PLAYSTATION3 racing games, including Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. It is available for pre-order at www.logitech.com for $299.99.
