AMD have just added some “multi-core value” to their Phenom II processors lineup with the new jaw-dropping AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition CPU. Codenamed Dragon, the new processor has stepped into into heady thermal territory. It runs at a rather high-strung clock rate of 3.4GHz (highest AMD has shipped until now), has a TDP rating of 140W, 8GB of cache, plenty of headroom, and supports high-speed DDR3 memories.
To make it a little more appealing against Intel’s Core 2 Quad processors, the new AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition offers better performances thanks to the company’s OverDrive 3.0 technology. More to it, the X4 965 seems to have amazing overclocking capabilities — which AMD would like to put on show with a a liquid helium-cooled version that runs at 7 GHz. Yes, 7000 MHz to brag with …

On top of these all, Phenom II X4 965 also takes care of keeping your PC in silent mode by using the Cool’n'Quiet 3.0 technology that helps maintains a “bearable” computer temperature.
Backwards-compatible with the AM II+ platform, AMD’s Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Processor should be available on NewEgg for $245.
Definitely makes us wonder how it works against the Core i7 …
