Samsung YP-R1 Portable Media Player Hits the FCC

Back in June we got the story and one month later we learned that the 16GB version of the new Samsung YP-R1 PMP will be available in the UK. Well, today, our North American buds should be happier to know that we just found that the device has made its way to the FCC and we’ll soon see if it meets the criteria to be sold on the market.
Although not as appealing as its older brother, the Samsung YP-M1, the YP-R1 is a touchscreen-based player that comes with a 2.7-inch display (400 x 240 pixels), packs 8GB to 32GB of flash storage, touts built-in Bluetooth connectivity, TV-out, major audio / video file support and even a few games in case you’re out there with nothing else to do.
It’s pretty standard stuff that you pay some 110 GBP for in the UK (which is some $180 at today’s rate), if it clears the FCC, the new Samsung YP-R1 should be priced close to that amount and should debut just before the end of the year.
