After months of teasing foreplay on their website, Lenovo has finally announced the release of their latest IdeaPad ultra-portable laptop, the Lenovo U450p. And while netbooks may have stolen the show for small and light devices you can’t count out thin notebooks running on Intel’s Consumer Ultra Low Voltage platform.
Lenovo continues to jump into this market and their latest IdeaPad notebook is now available for pre-order. The U450p model is available with either the SU2700 (1.3GHz, 800MHz FSB) or SU3500 (1.4GHz, 800MHz FSB) CPU paired with the Intel Integrated Graphics X4500. This notebook appears to fit between a small, low powered netbook and a heavy but full-featured notebook, and weighs in at 4.62 pounds. It offers a 1366 x 768 resolution on the 14? display.
3GB of RAM is standard on the unit, but the U450p can handle up to 8GB of total memory. The 5400 RPM hard drive is also available in a range of capacities from 250GB to 500GB. The U450p also includes an integrated optical drive. Lenovo says the 6-cell battery should last for six hours and along with three USB ports, a memory card reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VGA out and Gigabit Ethernet, the new Lonovo IdeaPad U450p is a worth product offering.
You can pre-order your own U450p (starting at $799) at www.lenovo.com. According to the Lenovo website, you should expect at least a 4-week leadtime.
