Gigabyte Announces New T1028X Convertible Touchscreen Netbook [Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU, 1366 x 768 Display, 6-Cell 54Wh Battery Pack]

Among the most popular devices in the electronics market today are the netbook computers. Ultra-portable PCs that feature a well-rounded feature list along with an eye to highly mobile and networked users, the netbooks seem to have become the computer of choice for those who are looking to keep in contact with their social networking sites while on the go. Without much fanfare, Gigabyte Computers has announced today that it has revamped its T1028M netbook and rebranded it the T1028X.

The Gigabyte T1028X is essentially a 10.1-in redux on their earlier convertible netbook, the T1028M. Among the key changes is a switch in processor, moving up to the Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU paired with a faster front-side bus, and a higher-resolution display, now running at 1366 x 768. The T1028 also increases your input flexibility by giving you a choice of keyboard, touch pad or stylus.

The convertible panel allows one to easily share work with colleagues and its ability to rotate and fold down turns the PC into a tablet allowing you to scribble away with the stylus. Comfortable and accurate typing is assured by a 92% full-sized keyboard with wide key spacing at 17.5-mm. An integrated 3.5 G module lets you access high-speed Internet anytime, anywhere.

The T1028X also gets the 6-cell 54Wh battery pack as standard, and keeps the optional integrated HSPA of the original T1028M. There’s also an ExpressCard 34 slot, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive, while Bluetooth and WiFi b/g are both standard. The Gigabyte T1028X is available online in Europe for around $880.
