Nothing is better for the self esteem than having some digital device tell you that you have no hope of making it past 50 unless you start exercising an hour a day seven days a week and eat only baked salmon and broccoli for the rest of your life. OK, maybe I am taking this a bit too far, but do we really need a handheld body fat analyzer? The folks at Omron think you do and it just so happens that they make one, the Omron HBF-306C.

The Omron HBF-306C Body Fat Analyzer measures your body fat with a gentle, micro electrical current — unfortunately, you won’t feel it. Apparently, the key to long-term happiness is constantly obsessing about your body fat content and this handheld body fat analyzer is an affordable and easy way to do just that. After inputting your personal data, a measurement can be started by simply holding the grip electrodes and pressing the start button. And since the analyzer is built with a nine person profile memory, each member of your family (or all of your multiple personalities) or team can track the success of their individual exercise routines.

The HBF-306C features two modes, athlete and normal, for accurate results. It’s so convenient that they have managed to lump all of humanity into two simple categories. The device returns measurement results in seven seconds for both Bi method (Bioelectrical Impedance Method) and BMI (Body Mass Index). The unit displays the measured value of your body fat percentage through the BMI method, and indicates the body mass in for ranges from low, normal, high, and very high according to the BMI value.
