Having an ultra-portable computer is great until you realize that you monitor space isn’t really providing you with that much real estate to work with. A number of companies have answered this need for more screen space by coming up with small LCD monitors that you can connect to a USB port on your laptop. Nanovision of Korea have just increased the size of their MIMO portable USB display portfolio with the new MIMO 710-S and its cool clamshell design is sure to have heads turning.
The latest travel-friendly LCD monitor from Nanovision, the MIMO 710-S USB LCD sub-display, is certain to be a hit with the road warrior crowd. The Nanovision MIMO 710-S “Mobile Slider” sports the same 800×480 resolution and 7-in LCD display from the existing product portfolio, but this time pairs it with a new foldy, twisty clamshell stand that should come in handy when you want to make sure your new LCD monitor doesn’t get damaged going through airport security.
The Nanovision MIMO 710-S is perfect when you want to add some more LCD landscape to your netbook or laptop. The monitor is connected using the included USB cable and rather than using your system’s video card it uses the integrated DisplayLink virtual monitor system. The 710-S boasts 350 cd/m2 brightness and a 500:1 contrast ratio.
A double-headed USB cable powers the MIMO 710-S and there’s no word yet on whether or not they will work in webcam and touchscreen options. The Nanovision MIMO 710-S “Mobile Slider” USB display has an MSRP of $149.
