Fujitsu FUTRO S100 Thin Client [VIA ULV Processors, VGA Out, Dual USB Connectors]

Fujitsu FUTRO S100 Thin Client

So have you heard of VIA? We haven’t really heard much mention of them over the years either, especially when it comes to computer processors. They seem to have flown under the radar in a market that has been dominated in recent years by the likes of AMD and Intel. It would seem that VIA is set to make an even bigger name for itself and it has chosen the world of clients to make its formal debut. Fujitsu’s latest slim-line thin client the FUTRO S100 will contain VIA’s Eden processors and they hope it will have you taking note.

Fujitsu has announced that it will utilize VIA’s Eden ultra-low voltage (ULV) processor for its next generation FUTRO thin client series. The Eden ULV processor will provide 500MHz of power with a low TDP of just one watt. The FUTRO S100 is set to be the first in the line to feature the chip. The FUTRO S100 is a virtual workplace solution that is touted as silent thanks to its fanless construction.

VIA has decided to adopt a green marketing spin with its ULV chips probably with the thought that the benefits in reduced power consumption far outweigh any extra chip expense. The FUTRO S100 system uses only 11W under full load. For a large enterprise that is looking to save money and lower its carbon footprint this is a definite strong point.
