Logitech Wireless ‘Drum Kit’ for Guitar Hero [Premium PS2 & PS3 Drum Controller]

Having recently introduced their new Wireless Guitar Controller, Logitech have just announced their new, wireless virtual drum set for use with Guitar Hero for the PlayStation – namely the Logitech Wireless Drum Controller for the PlayStation 3 – which Logitech bill as being a premium, wireless drum controller offering a ‘highly durable, responsive drumming experience’ (for those that are averse to actually playing the Real McCoy’s).

Officially licensed by Activision Publishing, Inc. for use with Guitar Hero the new Logitech Wireless Drum Controller for the PlayStation 3 system (which is also compatible with the PS2, incidentally), sports three fully adjustable drum heads with recessed rims, two cymbal pads and a stainless steel finished kick pedal with adjustable spring.

Interestingly, rather than opt for Bluetooth wireless connectivity Logitech have instead gone the RF route with the kit pairing with your PlayStation courtesy of a 2.4 GHz USB dongle style receiver whilst, in a bid to eliminate cabling completely, the kit draws power from a couple of AA batteries that, according to Logitech, will allow you to beat them virtual skins for up to 50 hours.

“When you’re ready to experience a new premium drum controller or expand your band, you’ll want to rip on Logitech’s new drum controller,” said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for gaming. “With the Wireless Drum Controller, you can mark time, keep the backbeat, color up your riffs and crash down on the cymbal pads. Joining the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller, the new Wireless Drum Controller lets you rock out to your favorite songs on the PS3 system.”

The Logitech Wireless Drum Controller for the PlayStation 3 is set to release early August and will set you back just shy of $230 and, whilst personally I for one have just never got this fake instrument nonsense, we don’t doubt that they’ll be many who’ll be more than happily fork out the necessary cash rather than put it towards a real kit. Strikes me as absurd, but what do I know?
