Google Voice Application for BlackBerry and Android is Official [Available on Google's Mobile Site With No iPhone Support Yet]

google voice application

Today, Google have announced that what used to be called Grand Central is going to be officially available as Google Voice from now on. The big news is that Google Voice Application is going to be available on both Android and BlackBerry platforms allowing users to place calls on their devices and have recipients’ calls display their Google Voice number. And to sweaten the whole deal the new Google voice application will also allow for voicemail text transcripts within the application instead of getting it done from the web.

The main reason why everyone is excited about it, is that the main function of the application is to automatically route outbound calls through Google and then to the recipient — that you can only give one number to people, instead of two or three on each network.

Although they have plans for an iPhone Google Voice application, for the moment Google will only release support for Android and BlackBerry smartphones. Out of the two the Android app is the most complete — it takes over the native dialer, the address book and the call log.

Both Google Voice apps have become available for download on Google’s Mobile Site at m.google.com/voice
