Sony Introduces Walkman E440 and B140 Players [New Walkman E440 and B140 Series for European Release]

In an attempt to prove that their products still have what it takes to be where the iPod and other PMPs are, Sony have just updated their slim and chic Walkman players today with the new E-series and the formerly Japan-only B-series. Both the Sony Walkman E440 and Sony Walkman B140 feature an FM radio, have voice recorder functions (and can also record from the radio).

Out of the two, the small sized Sony Walkman E440 series is just 9.3mm thick, yet packed with great features. It boasts a significant update to Sony’s core, has bigger and easier to push buttons, a 2.0-inch QVGA display and features a new Clear Audio engine for much better stereo and bass response, without any distortions. The E440 supports H.264, MPEG-4 and WMV9 video files, while for audio it plays AAC, MP3 and WMA. It comes in 4, 8 and 16GB sizes.

A bit different from this one, the new Sony Walkman B140 is only limited to MP3 and unprotected WMA files, it features Sony’s ZAPPIN technology that allows the user to listen to short audio samples from within. It should be available in either 2 or 4GB versions.

Although meant for a first debut in Europe (in UK) this summer, there’s no specific word on pricing or the exact shipping date of both models.
